History
The Malaysia-Japan Symposium on Pharmaceutical Regulatory System was established as a platform to strengthen regulatory collaboration between the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) of Malaysia and the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) of Japan, building upon the strong diplomatic ties between both countries.
The first symposium was held in 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, hosted by NPRA, and successfully attracted around 150 paid participants from regulatory agencies, industry, and academia. It provided a valuable forum for discussions on pharmaceutical regulatory advancements and best practices. The second symposium was held virtually, hosted by PMDA, in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring continued engagement and regulatory discussions despite global restrictions.
Now in its third edition, the Malaysia-Japan Symposium 2025 returns to Kuala Lumpur, hosted once again by NPRA. This symposium continues to foster regulatory excellence, encourage knowledge sharing, and strengthen cooperation between Malaysia and Japan in the evolving pharmaceutical landscape.
